Christmas Countdown...... 1

Christmas Countdown...... 1

On our final Christmas count down blog we have an update from the Build & Refurbishment  and Property Enterprises

Build and Refurbishment Team

We have continued with the undergrounding of overhead cables in collaboration with Western Power. In terms of aesthetics this has changed the village enormously and we will try and continue to work with Western Power to underground any other cables that we can.

This latest undergrounding required a road closure, but it certainly wasn’t as long as the one required for rebuilding the wall outside Park View. [Photo] Thank you again to everyone who was impacted and whilst it took slightly longer than hoped it now means this wall and garden behind are secure for the future. The project took longer than we initially hoped, the foundations needed to be 20% larger and therefore we had to take away an additional 20%  soil, fortunately, the weather stayed fairly favorable and we were able to mostly complete the works within the extended timeframe. The Build Team have worked together with a number of Tenants this year, notably the new residents at Woodlands who have put a lot of effort into making Overbury their home and hope to be here for many years. Also the new tenants at Silver Rill, who have worked very closely with our new Joiner, Simon Whitaker to commission some really stunning pieces for their home.

Simon re-joined us in April having been an apprentice here and has already made some wonderful pieces for houses around Overbury and for third parties. We look forward to seeing his future projects come to life and will try and share more with you.

Property Team

We have had a few tenant changes this year, spread out from the top of Overbury all the way to Aston Mill and Beckford, however one thing is sure, they are all welcome with open arms as members of the Overbury community. The team have worked hard to turn around a number of these properties and will be carrying out a large renovation of Manor Lodge in the New Year so keep any eye on the property pages for Overbury Enterprises and Overbury Investments. We have a couple of properties currently available though, so do contact us if you or anyone else you know might be looking to move. We have also had a couple of changes in commercial tenants, with a few long standing businesses reviewing the way they work, to exciting new ones joining Overbury. Lorna from Paws Perfect took on The Bothy in Stockton’s Courtyard on the 23rd December last year and has made it a very successful addition to her dog grooming business. Lucinda who runs Pro Active Physio and Pilates is also taking on additional space as her bookings increase. Alice Caroline physically received their Queen’s Award for Enterprise from the Deputy Lord Lieutenant in November having received it for their amazing work during the first lockdown. These thriving businesses ensure Overbury continues to be a place of enterprise and employment as well as a great place to live.

Looking forward

We continue to look to the future as there are so many opportunities on the horizon for business like us at the moment, we just need to make sure we continue to offer the same high level of service whilst also looking to add to what we do. Among many other things, the new workspace at the Old Village Shop will be very exciting for us and the wider business community and we are also looking forward to finding the perfect match for our Deputy Manager role at Grasshoppers. From everyone at Overbury Enterprises we wish you a truly wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
