STREET MARKET SUCCESS!

STREET MARKET SUCCESS!

The 39th Overbury Street Market took place on Saturday 8th July.  Hundreds of people made their way to Overbury from near and far.

Visitors were treated to all the usual fare such as homemade cakes and preserves, Overbury Lamb sold by our very own Farmer Jake, and Beef and Honey from Overbury Stallions

There were also delicious bacon rolls on offer, and tea, cake and ice cream in Berkeley House garden. Overbury resident Mike Weaver entertained the crowds in the garden with his wonderful music.

There were bargains to be found on the ‘Going for a Song’, book and toy stalls.

Talented local artist Katie Hough was selling her beautiful artwork and prints. Visit her website to see her work at www.katiehough.co.uk.

With very generous raffle prize donations including an Apple Watch; a beautiful Silver Necklace made by Mark Linley, local tenant and craftsman; a Katie Hough framed picture; and a case of wine from Overbury Bowling Club, the raffle was a huge success with some very happy winners.

In Whitcombe garden the children from Overbury C of E First School were running lots of games for visitors to play and win prizes.

With all this and other stalls, there really was something for everyone.

Overall the 2017 Overbury Street Market raised a fantastic £3,943 which will go towards community projects.

As always a special thank you goes to Andrew John without whom the Street Market would not happen. A huge thank you also goes to all the volunteers who helped to set up, run stalls and clear up; to the car parking assistants; to Mike for the music; and to the countless people who donated items to sell.

See you next year for the 40th Anniversary of the Overbury Street Market!
