An introduction to Sam Morris, our Farms student

Meet Sam, our sandwich student from Hartpury College.

Hello, my name is Samantha Morris and I am currently studying a 3-year extended diploma in agriculture at Hartpury College.

My love for the countryside and all things outdoors is what initially got me interested in the idea of studying agriculture as it is so varied, and the opportunities are limitless as to what you can learn.

I am lucky enough to be working at Overbury Farms during my placement year to help widen my overall farming knowledge. Originally my aim for the future was to become a farm manager but after working closely with the sheep I feel I would love to be a shepherdess or even progress further to become a farm vet as I now have a strong interest in sheep health.

Due to Overbury’s variety of agricultural enterprises I am able to partake in a multitude of different aspects of farming whether it be collecting soil and grass samples, helping with the maintenance of the wide range of machinery or assisting the shepherd.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my horses and going for country walks with my very energetic spaniel!

Even though my agricultural knowledge is limited due to not coming from an overly farming orientated background I have found that straight away I have been welcomed into the Overbury Farms community and I cannot wait to see how the rest of my year and understanding towards agriculture progresses.
