HEAD GARDENER


A fabulous opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable Gardener to join us at Overbury to maintain and develop the established gardens around Overbury Court on the edge of the Cotswolds, and the Landscape and Grounds enterprise, supporting the estate tenants. The gardens are made up of formal hedges and borders, kitchen garden, pools and waterfalls, orchards and wild meadow areas. You should hold suitable horticultural qualifications including spraying certificates and COSHH. Chainsaw operation and tickets to drive powered access would be desirable. You will be supported by a small team, who also look after the wider estate. Broad ranging duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Managing the glasshouses and kitchen garden.
  • Providing year-round plants for the house.
  • Assisting with design and landscaping of areas around the estate and tenant’s gardens.
  • Work with the family and a leading garden designer to generate and develop ideas.
  • Work with annual work schedules, planting records and other computer-based admin.

ASSISTANT GARDENER


A varied and interesting role for a keen, motivated gardener with good plant knowledge to assist the Head Gardener and team on a large country estate. You will have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar environment and qualifications to RHS level 2 or equivalent or be able to show demonstratable evidence of suitable gardening knowledge to that level. Experience in operating and carrying out maintenance of garden and estate machinery is essential. Spraying PA1, PA6 and Chainsaw CS30-31 qualifications are also desirable. This is a physical role so good fitness is required. Broad ranging duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Pruning and propagation.
  • Mowing and hedge cutting.
  • General garden maintenance.
  • Flexibility and teamwork in line with the needs of the estate parks and gardens.

Housekeeping Apprenticeship


A varied and interesting role, with broad ranging duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Traditional large property housekeeping.
  • Cleaning, laundry, bedmaking.
  • Meeting, greeting & hosting at guest house and meeting room facilities.
  • Support to chef and house teams during event delivery, including table service.
  • Stock takes and record keeping.
  • Communicating across teams from House staff and office staff and external guests and customers.
