LAMBING LIVE 2017

LAMBING LIVE 2017

Sunday 2nd April saw hundreds visit Overbury to see our latest arrivals.  Lambing Live is one of the highlights of our farming year and it’s lovely to see so many people enjoying it as much as we do.

Visitors enjoyed a tractor and trailer ride up to the lambing sheds where the main action is.  Faced with a large audience, our ewes sometimes cross their legs and hang on to their lambs but a lucky few will have seen a lamb being born.

Visitors spoke to Farmer Jake, Shepherd Reg and Gamekeeper Paul to find out just what we get up to here at Overbury Enterprises.  Our wonderful sponsor, Countrywide, were also on hand to speak to visitors and explain their role in supplying essential items to keep our flock in tip top condition.  They also handed out flower and vegetable seeds for budding young growers!

Each year we run a quiz for the children.  We had a lots of entries and this year there were 2 winners.  Sisters Jess and Izzy both got the top score and the deciding tie-break colouring page was too close to call so they are sharing the prize of an Allison’s Bookshop voucher.  Well done to them both.

We also had some great entries in our Instagram photo competition.  Visitors posted their pictures on Instagram using #overburylambinglive.  The winner will be announced on social media.  The lucky winner will be treated to a very exciting experience which money cannot buy!

At Overbury Village Hall our volunteers were kept busy serving drinks, locally made cakes and ice cream.  The children’s corner was busy with crafts, freebies and activities.  There was also a wool spinning demonstration given by Suzanne Marler so visitors could see how the sheep’s wool is used.

A huge thank you to all those members of our wonderful community who baked cakes, gave up time to set up, sold refreshments, washed up, directed traffic in the car park, sold tickets and carried out all the other essential jobs which make this event such a success year on year.

Also a massive thank you to everyone who pulled on their wellies and came to see the lambs.

We hope to see you again next year!
