Overbury Enterprises has started the year at a pace! We are project managing the refurbishment at Norlands, owned by Overbury Investments. This fabulous 7 bedroomed house (was 8 but I have borrowed a bedroom to make an additional bathroom) is having a full make over, new heating, new bathrooms and kitchen as well as a few lovely alterations to make it into a rather smart home for the 21st Century!
There are important decisions to be made daily – from which fireplaces need alteration to whether we have our plug sockets in the right place! The men from Coombs Group, as well as some of our own trusted contractors are all working hard in less than tropical conditions to get this property ready for the next lucky resident. We should be done by April and will have an open day so you can all come and have a look to see what we have created. Fingers crossed you will love it! Part of the wall is being demolished to make an amazing living space.
We are also finalising details for our EVEN more exciting project… Manor Farm - our holiday property!! More details coming soon but what we do know is that this is staying… although we may give it a bit of tender loving care!
And just to make sure that I don’t get bored, we have just submitted a small planning permission to convert some currently redundant buildings into three office units. We pride ourselves on making sure we are a great place to live and work, so much so that we have a continual need for office space. Our location, both in terms of transport links and our beautiful surroundings, coupled with Penelope’s super-fast broadband, mean we can encourage even more local entrepreneurial businesses into the area. On top of all this we have sadly had to deal with fly-tipping of asbestos and polystyrene, holes in walls created by cars and naughty people walking off piste! You will soon start to notice our new signs around the Estate to get people ‘Back on Track’.
Mark (our building manager) and the boys have been busy working on two properties that have just been rented out to lucky new tenants, from improving access and fencing at one property to making sure our floors are safe in another. The talents of Maurice, our carpenter are endless, as are the tuneful songs… he does a spot of painting too!
Here in the office we are busy amalgamating out social media channels to make it easier for all of you to stay up to date with all of our many activities, from farming to logs to sharing our properties… and on that note we wonder whether you could help us! We have a fabulous Farmhouse (click for more details) that needs someone to love it as much as we do. We have a few treats in store for the lovely person who helps us find a new tenant so get sharing amongst your friends!

As if that wasn’t enough we are looking to roll out an exciting Smartwater http://www.smartwater.com/ project to help us all be as secure a place as is possible. We are in the early stages of discussion but as soon as we have more details we will share them with all of our local residents!
So here is just a flavour of the first two weeks of January, coupled with our delicate snowdrops appearing around our gardens which are lovely to see, as well as some gorgeous sunrises which go some way towards helping us through the grey muddy days that follow!
