The gardens team have been very busy over the last two months, yew hedge trimming on a giant scale, fabulous views though.
There is still time for that summer prune of apples and pears right up until the first two weeks of October, this is occasionally beneficial as you only do the job once. Summer prune apples and pears grown only as cordons, espaliers, fans and pyramids as this allows light in for the fruit to ripen and prepares the fruit for next year. Prune to 3 fruiting spurs as shown below.
Wisteria can still be cut back to 5 or 6 leaves and this prevents it from getting into gutters and roofs.
